The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever!
INGREDIENTS
You’ll Need (for the cake):
2 cups of flour.
2 cups of sugar.
1/4 tsp. of salt.
4 tbsp. of cocoa.
2 sticks of butter.
1 cup of boiling water.
1/2 cup of buttermilk.
2 beaten eggs.
1 tsp. of vanilla.
You’ll Need (for the frosting):
1/2 cup of finely chopped pecans.
1 – 3/4 stick of butter.
4 tbsp. of cocoa.
6 tbsp. of milk.
1 tsp. of vanilla.
1 pound (minus 1/2 cup) of powdered sugar.
INSTRUCTIONS
Melt the butter in a saucepan and add in the cocoa, stir until combined.
Add boiling water the the butter and cocoa and boil for 30 seconds and remove from heat.
I a mixing bowl, mix together the flour, sugar and salt then pour in the water, butter and cocoa mixture. Mix until incorporated.
Pour the buttermilk in a measuring cup and add in the beaten eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix all together then mix with the butter and chocolate mixture.
In a prepared 18×13 sheet cake pan, pour the mixture and bake in a preheated oven to 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Now let’s make the icing while the cake is baking.
In a saucepan, melt the butter, add in the cocoa and mix together until combined. Take the butter off the heat and add in milk, vanilla and powdered sugar. Mix well together then add in the finely chopped pecans.
After you take the cake out of the oven, pour the mixture over it while it still warm.
